What is a CTA?

A USTA Community Tennis Association (CTA) is “any incorporated, geographically defined, not-for-profit, volunteer-based organization that supports or provides programs which promote and develop the growth of tennis.”

  • Complete the initial CTA registration using the TennisLink online registration system and thereafter submit an annual renewal through this same online system
  • Valid USTA Member Organization status as a Community Tennis Association
  • Incorporate as a non-profit through the South Carolina Secretary of State
  • Functional By-laws on file with USTA South Carolina
  • Participate in an annual CTA health check in the CTA’s community between that CTA’s leaders and USTA South Carolina (staff and/or CD Committee Members). This meeting must involve 50% of the CTA Board or at least 3 Board Members, whichever is less.
  • Be a predominantly volunteer organization with a Board of Directors
  • Operate or plan to operate an active tennis program and/or conduct tennis advocacy in a specific South Carolina community

ADVANTAGES OF REGISTERING YOUR CTA WITH THE USTA

  • Access to USTA grants and scholarships
  • Preferential access to USTA Tennis & Education Foundation Scholarships — Youth participating in registered CTA programs are given priority to college, individual player, and textbook scholarships from the foundation.
  • Training and Educational Workshops and Seminars — Registered CTAs receive information and special discounted rates to USTA sponsored events, workshops, and seminars.
  • Website Development — Registered CTAs can receive assistance with their website development.
  • “Best Practices” Sharing — Registered CTAs have access to unique and successful ideas implemented by CTAs around the country.
  • CTA Newsletter — Registered CTAs receive regular communication first-hand from the USTA regarding upcoming events, workshops, seminars, grants, and programs.
  • USTA Awards — Registered CTAs are eligible for prestigious USTA National, Section, and State awards.
